Problem Formulation

Ok, tutorial videos should not be longer than - say - 10 minutes. This video is 72 minutes long! My excuse is: I wanted to record a complete solution procedure including a wrong approach with its remedy and including solution steps outside of ANSYS^©.

Layout-Plan

Using ANSYS workbench, decide upon the wall-thickness of a pressure-vessel subject to a differential internal pressure of p=1 bar. Let

$R_{P0.2}=2.8{\text{E}}8{\frac {\displaystyle N}{\displaystyle m^{2}}}{\text{ ; safety factor: }}s=2.$

The vessel geometry shall be defined by

The pressure vessel is rotationally symmetric, depicted above is only a 90° section with input/output pipe.
